In 1979, Lyman Orchards started a tournament called the Lyman Orchards' Country Amateur Championship. The tournament was a two-day best ball and players from all over New England came to compete against the best. The event lasted nearly 10 years and consistently had nearly 100 teams. We are bringing this event back to glory with a few modern twists.  First of all, our event is a one-day tournament and we have added a professional division. The trophy for this event, which stays at the club, is a 30-inch-tall apple barrel. What hasn’t changed is the classic design and layout of the Jones Course. 

 

The Robert Trent Jones course is a Connecticut Gem. Over the years, it has been host to the Monday qualifier for the Traveler’s Championship (formerly GHO), the CT PGA Championship, CT Pub Links, multiple Junior Tour events, numerous collegiate events, and many more. We are also a host site for the 2017 U.S. Amateur Qualifier in July. The classic Robert Trent Jones Sr. design is sure to challenge every golfer.
